Anyway, it's still not perfect because of 4.1 breaking a few addons I wanted to use. It's functional from what I can tell at least.

If it feels lopsided it's because it is. There are no decent Combat Log readers updated as of right now. I'm also not in raid so some of my boss timers are not functional.

Raid frames will go in the bottom center once I get into a group to mess with them ^_^.

Not visible, but I switched back to the default combat text for now. Eventually xCT will be updated and I'll go to that. 4.1 broke a lot of shit for being such a minor patch o.0. Oh well.

This time I wanted to start out with an idea of everything that I needed on the screen to make things work, so I hopped into KG Panels and made a fresh layout. After a wee bit of PDN editing for labels I ended up with this.

I'm still torn on the addition of a viewport. I'd get a lot of viewing space back from it, but I sort of like the game world break that splits the "crucial" information the stuff that is peripheral for a reason.

I don't even know what bar texture that is on my player frame but I like it. I'm also a little stuck on the spacey-techno label text I use and I might just import it so I can use it in WoW. I'll have to see how it looks when it's small.

If I do use a viewport I'll probably have to make it myself and I'll just put some snazzy art in the empty spaces to spice things up. Maybe I'll put some glowtastic power aura effects on there that change color on shadowform. OoooOoooooOooooh, fun times.

In practice this UI will look a lot less intrusive once the ominous black boxes are replaced with the actual windows that will go there (most of which are only present in a raid situation and rarely take up as much space as the boxes display. I'm hoping that the actual effect doesn't make it look fragmented and broken as a result.

This should be able to function as a healing UI as well, though the inevitable vertical bars that I'll be using for the frames may prove troublesome. I might have to switch to VuhDo. Ugh, it's filthiness STAINS me. If only the config menu on it wasn't such a PoS eyesore.

Oh, I'll probably just use Simple Threat Meter for the threat bar. I feel like I could probably make skada work for it too, so I might just do that. I don't think I need to see anyone elses threat gen really. Just how far I can push it before I become proxy tank with Mist of Nigh-Invulnerability.

Adding Kg Artwork is easy!

Type the name of your desired texture. I like to put an a at the front so it sorts my stuff first.

This always starts with your Interface folder, caps matters, and you have to type the address with \\ after each line for it to see the address. Artwork has to be the proper size, but I'm not going into making art in this tutorial.

Sometimes after putting in the address it deletes the name you gave it above, just it it in again and select Add.

It should be in your art directory now. Yay!

Poor Hello Kitty UI. I never work on you. Here's another project that will distract me from it as well! My Rogue has a new home, and in the spirit of his moving he must have a new UI (his old was shit anyway). Before and after and all the stuff in between will be shown.

It's probably worth mentioning that the UI is kind of a complete knockoff of the 2009 SK vs HON 3's team UI with some modifications to make it usable everywhere.

There's a button to toggle recount next to the map button that toggles the map. No sense seeing that stuff when you actually want to see your screen, right?

It's more or less finished now. Aside from needing to move some buttons around and put in a hideaway button bar for infrequently used things that don't need a keybind and the Arena/PvP ability watches I want I believe it's ready to go.

Magnum is my new Warrior UI I've started. Universal Warrior was a failure, plain and simple. There are a few things I'd like this UI to accomplish

1) I'd like it to have a rather dark theme. The overall theme of it will be black and grey, with use of darker blues, reds and greens. I plan on having a few, carefully selected spots with bright colors, either for visual effect or to serve some purpose. Right down to the color schemes on Recount, Prat, and Pitbull I'd like to get the bright colors out and some darker colors in. I don't know what I'm going to do with pallys. Pink is going to clash so bad with this...
edit: I may use a cool blueish color as a highlight for important things on the screen. something like a thin neon border.

2) Organization is key. The centerpiece is the player bar. What needs to be close to it for tanking purposes are cooldowns, targets, applied debuffs, threat, and possibly a box specifically for raid warnings so they don't just float in air all the time. This means some form of non obtrusive art will need to be put over the warning spot.

3) The Marcello test: Marcello is my QA guy. If he doesn't like the design Magnum is a failure. I realize he won't like the dark colors already, but I'm willing to put that aside. Bright colors are distracting.

I may slash up the roth D3 orbs scripting and put a health or rage bubble in the middle as a jewel.

A box for debuffs might be pushing it but if I can work it in I should. Also, as much as I love Satrina's work I'd like to use SL Data Text for this one. He'll forgive me I think.

The jury is still out on it, but the Roth gem might end up on the top as a centerpiece for a buff box/Button Frame. I might try to get all of my shit that is usually scattered around on lunar sphere if I can get the thing to stop being so bright. I'll have to test that out soon.

Inc Mage UI

Sadly the servers died unexpectedly whilst working on the UI. This is what I had managed to save before it went totally kaput. Mages are a colorful people, as they cast all the shineys and bright lights. I'm working on a UI theme that matches those elements. Props to Marcello-BDF(US) for the idea. Currently the screen is working off my Greytones UI I posted a while back from my test warrior. I believe a lot of those elements from that UI can still be seen, and some may stay since I rather enjoyed some of it. The point I'm trying to get at is that since it's in a transition phase from old to new it probably will still look very different from how it does now by the end. We shall see. On with the show!

This is my first post, and it's mostly just so I can play with settings on Google's fun blog site. So I'm going to test stuff in this post and maybe throw some thoughts on things in the middle. I guess I'll talk about myself some. Everyone loves that.

My name is Hansel. I play a protection warrior named Feydratha on US-Black Dragonflight, and I have too many alts to juggle aside from him. I love raiding, and also enjoy racing the new instance tool debuff through a heroic. I've yet to beat it on HoL, though I've managed the 15 minute Nexus run so I'm happy. Eventually I will change Feydratha's name back to Feyd (which was his name before I xferred to BDF).

The picture of the plastic ninja is my avatar on Tankspot.com which is one of my most frequented sites.

One of my favorite aspects of this game is the capacity to which I can customize the user interface. This will eventually be one of the foci of this blog. I will also be injecting my own thoughts on raids, minor theorycrafting, highlights from my favorite authors of the WoW community, pictures of particularly exciting Lolcats, and some things of a more personal nature. We have yet to see if I can keep them separate from each other on the blog so people who don't care enough about WoW won't have to wade through it get to the stuff about me. That may be a challenge, but who knows?

Let's see how this looks so far...

Edit: Should anyone decide they want to make a nicer looking banner for my page feel free do so. The stone on slate thing is cool, but it looks kinda crappy. I'll make one eventually that looks decent unless someone else makes a nice one. It's not like I have to stick with one anyway!
